In fact, Allah (SWT) commands in His word to connect friendship. Hospitality is one of the noble deeds and obligations in religion.
Many verses of the Qur'an and hadith that explain us to connect the ropes of friendship and explain the various virtues.
Command and virtue of friendship
Allah Ta'ala ordered to connect the ropes of friendship, in his word:
"Worship God and associate not with him anything. And do good to two mothers-fathers, relatives, orphans, poor people, close neighbors and distant neighbors, and peers, ibn sabil and servant your sahaya. Allah loveth not those who are proud and boast of themselves "(Surat An Nisa: 36).
God also says:
"And grant to the close of the families of their right, to the poor and to those who travel, and do not waste your wealth extravagantly" (Surat al-Isra: 26).
He also said:
"So give it to the nearest relative of his right, so (to) the poor and those in transit. That is better for those who seek the pleasure of Allah; and they are the lucky ones "(Surah Ar Rum: 38).
Likewise the Prophet sallallaahu 'wasallam, he ordered his people to connect friendship, in his words:
"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, honor his guests. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then connect the ropes of friendship. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then say good or silent "(Narrated by Bukhari).
There is even a serious threat to the person who breaks friendship, he said:
"Not entering Paradise who breaks hospitality" (Narrated by Bukhari - Muslim).
And among the virtues of connecting friendship is dilated sustenance and lengthened its age. Rasulullah sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam said:
"Whoever wants to expand his sustenance and prolong his life, then connect the ties of friendship" (Narrated by Bukhari - Muslim).
And it is also one of the reasons for one's entry into heaven. Rasulullah sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam said:
"O mankind, scatter greetings, give food, connect silaturahim, pray at night when people are sleeping, you will go to heaven safely" (Ibn Majah, At Tirmidhi, Al Albani al-Mahani in Shahih Ibni Majah).
Silaturahim is connecting with the friends. An Nawawi rahimahullah explains:
"As for friendship, it is doing good to the kin-relatives according to the circumstances of the person who wants to connect and the state of the person to be connected. Sometimes in the form of goodness in the matter of treasure, sometimes with the help of energy, sometimes by visiting, by greeting, and other ways "(Syarh Sahih Muslim, 2/201).
