Three Historical Events During Ramadan



The month of Ramadan becomes the month that Muslims are longing for. In it there is blessing and all forms of goodness. At the time of Ramadan there have also been various historic events of Muslims.

A great historical event has occurred in the Holy Month of Ramadan. Major events such as, derived Qur'an or is currently commemorated as Nuzulul Quran, the occurrence of the Battle of Badr, and conquered the city of Makkah or commonly called Fathu Makkah.

1. Nuzulul Quran
Nuzulul Quran literally means the decline of the Qur'an (holy book of Islam) is a term that refers to the important events of the decline of the Qur'an (wikipedia.com)
 "The Qur'an as a whole is derived from Lauhul Mahfuzh to Baitul 'Izzah in the sky of the world. Then it was gradually revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in accordance with the events in the period of about 23 years. When the Prophet reached the age of 40 years, precisely on the 17th of Ramadan 13 years before the Hijriyah, the Prophet Muhammad SAW received the first revelation in the Cave of Hira. The astronomer, Sheikh Mahmud Basya, said it coincided with the beginning of February in 610 AD.

Before Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was appointed Prophet and Messenger to all the people, Muhammad was often alone from the noise and kufr of the Quraish infidels. He often worshiped to find peace in the Cave of Hira. He feels a world that has deviated and wants to calm down.

Coinciding during the month of Ramadan, Muhammad is still often alone in the Cave of Hira. The Prophet came to the Angel Gabriel and said, "Rejoice, O Muhammad, I am Gabriel, and you are the messenger of Allah for this people," he said.

On that day came the first revelation, the Surah al-Alaq verses 1-5 which Allah revealed through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. This event is commemorated as the day of Nuqulul Quran or the decline of Al Quran.

2. Badr War
The second historic event, the Battle of Badr. The war called Ghazwah Badr al-Kubra was the first major Muslim war. War that marks the beginning of the glory of Muslims. In this battle, the Prophet brought 313 Muslim troops to face 950 non-Muslim troops.

Despite the defeat, Muslims won in this Badr war. Muslims always believe in the Power of Allah SWT. Muslims together with Allah SWT, so any enemy is in the hands of Allah SWT. In this war, Allah SWT down the aid of an angel on the side of Muslims. Despite the victory, Muslim forces also fell as many as 14 people shaheed. Meanwhile, from the kafir forces killed and captured each of 70 people, and one of them Abu Jahal.

Badr war event is expected to occur in the month of Ramadan, precisely Friday 17 Ramadhan year 2 Hijriyah or coinciding with March 13, 624 AD. In a state of fasting, Muslims are accustomed to leaving for war against the enemies of Islam. They do not feel afraid of hunger, pain let alone die. For whoever dies in the way of Allah (SWT), he is killed in martyrdom.

3. Fathu Makkah
Another historic event is Fathu Makkah. This incident occurred on 20 Ramadhan year 8 Hijriyah. Fathu Makkah is an event of conquest of Makkah City by Rasulullah SAW and the Companions. Fathu Makkah (the conquest of Makkah) can occur due to the treachery of the Quraysh from the Hudaibiyyah covenant.

In the fasting month of Ramadan does not diminish the spirit of the Muslim army. In fact, they were able to win the war without any meaningful resistance. In the event the number of troops of Muslims as many as 10 thousand troops who appointed Khalid bin Walid as warlords. Rasulullah SAW also participated in the event of Fathu Makkah. He advised not to start a war, just attacking when attacked by enemy troops.

When successfully mastered Makkah, Rasulullah SAW immediately ordered to destroy the idols that exist in Makkah, especially around the Kaaba. The number of idols there at that time was about 360 statues. Then echoed the call to prayer and the Prophet SAW prayers in the Ibrahim maqam and drank zamzam water.

The enemies who were conquered were not tortured or killed. With the greatness of the Prophet's heart, forgive and allow them to live in Makkah. Although they used to torture and apply badly to Rasulullah SAW.
