In the month of Ramadan a Muslim performs many deeds that bring about rewards. One of the practice of sunnah that can be lived is eating sahur. The scholars agree that eating sahur hukumnyan sunnah, not mandatory. As Imam Nawawi said in Syarh Sahih Muslim, 7: 206. Despite the sunnah, this practice has virtue because it is said to be full of blessings.
In the hadith muttafaqun 'alaih, from Anas bin Malik, the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said,
تسحروا فإن فى السحور بركة
"Eat sahurlah you because in eating Sahur there is blessing." (Narrated by Bukhari no 1923 and Muslim No. 1095).
Barokah is the descent and the constant goodness of God on something. Barokah can bring goodness and reward, can even bring benefits of the world and the hereafter. But it is worth noticing that the baroque comes from God which is only obtained if a servant obeys Allah SWT.
Sahur is an important moment for fasting Muslims. Because by performing the meal, can determine energy throughout the day. Therefore, choosing food to eat sahur is equally important. Quoted from Khaleej Times, here are some food ingredients that should be avoided at dawn:
1. Carbohydrate Food
Simple or fine carbohydrates last only 3 to 4 hours to make our stomach full. Not only that, carbohydrates are also low in nutrients needed by the body. So consuming carbohydrate foods resulted in us feeling weak and sleepy throughout the day. Avoid foods with high sugar content, white flour, pastries, donuts, or croissants for the dawn menu.
2. Salty Food
Salty food for some people is more delicious compared with less salt foods. However, if you want to fast, should avoid foods with high salt content.
Therefore, eating salty foods at dawn can cause sodium levels in the body so unbalanced. So, make you very thirsty when fasting. So, avoid salted nuts, pickles, chips and foods that contain soy sauce.
3. Caffeinated Beverages
Caffeinated beverages cause insomnia and restlessness if taken excessively. In addition, we become more frequent urine which makes us more easily thirsty. So as much as possible to avoid coffee or tea at dawn.
So, more selective ya guys to choose food and drink Sahur, so strong to run the fast. Happy fasting.
